circa 1840, with browned damascus 30in. barrels signed on the raised flat top-rib 'J. LYELL, UNION ST. ABERDEEN' and possibly originally supplied with additional rifle barrels, bead fore-sight, engraved band and rib-end at breech, platinum plugs, fully scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved locks signed on the bars 'J. LYALL', traces of colour, chequered walnut half-stock, the right side of butt with filled in patchbox aperture, iron furniture including a chequered spur to the lower tang and brass mounted ebony ramrod
